Like many young (and not-so-young) adults, Peace grew up watching the long-running television program Sesame Street on PBS. With its signature stoop, green double doors and old-fashioned lamppost, the iconic streetscape-which is actually housed within Kaufman Astoria Studios in Queens-may be make-believe, but that’s why it’s so special to Peace and generations of children around the world. Yet there’s one New York City property that, modest as it is, she could never assign a price to: the two-story brownstone at 123 Sesame Street. ![]() After earning her master’s in finance from Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management in 2015, Peace had a successful career underwriting and financing billions of dollars’ worth of real estate deals, most recently as the director of residential development for Nashville-based Elmington Capital. Funding, mentorship, and regular virtual meetings supported their creative discoveries over a 2-month period. This initiative launched in summer 2020, under the name Black Puppeteers Empowerment Grant, with an initial cohort of 6 artists. ![]() To diversify representation on our stage and in our field, Puppet Showplace’s Creative Residency for Black Puppeteers initiative invests in creative research and early-stage production development by Black puppeteers from Greater Boston and from across the country. Her latest film, “Caged” was featured in “The Teacher’s Lounge” exhibit at the Kennedy Heights Art Center in Cincinnati. Current endeavors include writing, filming, and editing shadow puppet films. Her emphasis is on providing innovative ways to voice personal stories. Christine recently retired as an elementary art teacher and adjunct professor at Northern Kentucky University.Ĭhristine is dedicated to exploring the psychological, physical, and spiritual aspects of storytelling with shadow and light. in Fashion Design from the University of Cincinnati, DAAP and an M.A. She has taught workshops and performed at various national festivals and school programs in the greater Cincinnati area. He aims to change society through positive narratives that debunk negative stereotypes and address societal failures.Ĭhristine Langford ( Merit Mann) is an artist, instructor, designer, and Shadow Puppeteer. He draws his inspiration from nature, historical figures, current events, and black empowerment. He strives to unite the people through love, peace, light and creativity.
